Michael Todd Facial Scrub

In my August Ipsy bag, I received the Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub as one of my samples. I had heard of the brand before from some Beauty Gurus on Youtube but i had never tried something from their line.
The claims of the product are the it will, "effectively remove dead skin, impurities and toxins. Gentle enough for sensitive and acne prone skin types."
It claims that it is 70% organic and vegan certified.
The sample that I got contains 1 fluid oz. The full size product contains 3.4 fluid oz. and retails for $18.50

Here's my review:

Scent:
The scent is quite nice actually. I'm not very good at describing scents but I'll try anyways.
It smells kind of earthy, like some sort of plant, which I'm guessing is the Jojoba oil. It's not obnoxious, just a very clean.

Effectiveness:
After working the scrub in with my fingers onto my face, i rubbed the tiny bit left between my hands and they felt so soft afterwards. Whenever I the scrub, my face feels nice and clean and really soft. The next morning I am not oily around my nose, which usually happens with other scrubs and washes.

Overall, this scrub is pretty great. It is gentle enough that it doesn't break me out, but still leaves my face feeling soft and clean. I noticed that it helps to use it when i have a breakout as it doesn't irritate it and seems to help clear them. I definitely enjoy it, maybe even a little more than my HG scrub, the Apricot facial scrub from St.Ives.
On a side note, since the scrub is black it makes it look like i have dirt on my face when i put it on. My sister said I looked like a miner, haha.
For those of you not familiar with Ipsy, it is a subscription service created by Youtube Guru Michelle Phan, that lets you try different beauty products for only $10 a month. It sends you 4-5 deluxe size products, sometimes they are even full size. The products vary from things like skincare products to makeup to hair products and many other things. I have been subscribed since January of this year and so far although there have been a few miss products, there are some that i have really enjoyed. I just like the surprise of finding a package in the mail and playing around with the products.

If you want to check it out here is a link:

Anyways, if you guys have tried this product definitely let me know what you think of it. Also, do you recommend any other products from the line, I am very excited to try more, let me know your suggestions.
Stay Grand,
R

Simple Replenishing Rich Mousturizer

A while back, Target was offering samples from the Simple skincare line. I took the survey and qualified for the moisturizer. I got the sample in the mail almost two weeks ago. The sample was a nice size, a small bottle containing 1.9 fluid oz. The full size contains 4.2 oz, so the sample is almost half the size.

So let me break it down:

Smell: From the bottle there really isn't a strong scent as far as i can perceive. However when i applied it it had a bit of a weird scent, almost like plastic.

Feel: The moisturizer left my skin quite soft, but it did take some time to fully absorb. My face felt a little sticky after a few minutes but it gradually went away.

Effectiveness: This moisturizer is a light one. I have combination oily skin and it worked well giving enough moisture without leaving my t-zone oily, however the dry patches on my cheeks weren't moisturized well enough.

Overall this moisturizer is good if you are looking for a light lotion to provide just a bit of moisture. I don't recommend it for people with really dry skin, you definitely need something thicker. The name is misleading because it isn't a thick and 'rich' moisturizer, it is more of an everyday light lotion suitable for those more on the oilier side.

Let me know if you have tried it, and if so what did you think?
Keep it grand,
R
